Our training seeks to provide a safe space where everyone can tell their story. This training is an opportunity to engage in dialogue as a means to developing greater empathy and understanding. This training isn't meant to change peoples values or core beliefs, instead to identify our deeply held beliefs and values and explore how they affect the way we see the world, ourselves, and others.
Many people see diversity and inclusion as addressing racial inequity; however, diversity includes cultural background, race/ethnicity, religious beliefs, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, abilities, socioeconomic status, education level, ect… With this understanding of culture and diversity, we can begin to unpack the interconnection between stereotyping, unconscious biases, and behaviors such as microaggressions. With self reflection and awareness of our biases, we can strengthen our organization’s mission by including everyone.
